Utah Dogs

Well I changed the theme today! This one is called Cosmic Buddy. It’s a free theme, which is good, because Utah Dogs is poor and doesn’t have any money. Just like me.  LOL.  Which is no surprise. Hopefully we’ll get more traffic and I’ll be adding some ads (sorry but they do pay the bills!) and maybe we will, eventually, be able to actually buy a customized theme.

But I’ve been wanting that for years so we’ll see how it goes.  Anyway I like having more concise and succinct information on the front page, and I think this theme delivers that.  So hopefully it’s fairly easy to navigate.  I’ll be customizing the images over time too. Never enough time! Thanks for visiting!

Okay I took steps today to ensure, hopefully, we will no longer get any sploggers registering for the site.  We have had a ton of registrations and most of them are just junk!  Yuck! And so now we hopefully will just get real users coming to the site and using it.

I’ve gotten some parks listed, more will come.  I will also try to bring across some of the posts from the last forum. Or else maybe I’ll just close that down and link to them with a sub-domain. For historical purposes.

Things are coming along well! I’m really liking this software. I will be writing a tutorial, too, to help people who may be confused on how to read things.  Please don’t hesitate to click around!  It cannot be broken except from the inside!

Today I went through and added a Captcha for Registrations and logins.  We have been getting a whole slew of new registrations and I think they are all spammers.  Hopefully this will prevent spammer registrations in the future.

I don’t like Captchas but they really do help. So I apologize for the inconvenience.

I also went through the currently registered users and marked most of them as spammers. If I marked you as a spammer and you are not one, and you can no longer log in or post or navigate the site, please email me at web@tiptail.com

Well it looks like the site survived the night and didn’t break on it’s own again. Hopefully this weekend I’ll have some time to input Dog Park information again and get everything back up and working.

Okay I don’t know what happened to the old installation, but I figured since we didn’t have much on there yet, I’d just reinstall and start over. So here we are. Fresh new installation of Wordpress MU and BuddyPress. I hope that this one stays working, I promise not to play around in the code as much.
